Blacktrace Holdings Ltd
Founded in 2001, Blacktrace Holdings Ltd designs, develops and manufactures cutting-edge technologies and products for many applications in chemistry, microfluidics, biology, nanomaterial sciences and more. Their portfolio of products is marketed and sold globally via market-leading brands which Black Pig has been working with for the past few years. These include Blacktrace, Particle Works, Dolomite Bio and Dolomite Microfluidics.
Black Pig was tasked with redesigning and rebuilding the brands’ content managed ecommerce websites within the Blacktrace Group. The websites would be built in a new platform which not only aimed to provide intuitive UX for the customer, but to also improve the CMS experience as the one being used was no longer fit for purpose and was unable to achieve much of the functionality required.
Each of the websites has been designed to fit within the group structure and features many similarities. Some websites were new and without anything to succeed, whereas others replaced existing sites and required the customer’s account details to be merged into the new CMS. With over 12,000 users it was imperative that customers were able to login with their information from the old website and still be able to access their previously stored account details.
The websites feature a secure login with multi-currency functionality that uses the delivery address of the customer to determine the currency the site is displayed in and products can be purchased in. It also allows a user to request a quotation for individual products or for items which have been added to their basket. Quotations are stored in the CMS and are easily accessible for the client to edit if required. Orders can also be created through the CMS in multiple currencies which allows a customer to pay an invoice without being linked to a specific product on the website.
Features such as a product finder and a specific products filter for each category on the website make it simple for customers to journey through the website and find what they’re looking for.
Integration with the client’s payment gateway, Sage Pay, is enabled, making the purchasing experience uncomplicated and easy to use.
Due to the new CMS platform, it has been possible to implement additional features which are proving advantageous, such as recover abandoned cart emails. This has provided the ability to automate a procedure which can reach out to customers who have dropped off at a certain point in their journey and allows our client to try and convert those back to orders.
The websites have been well received with positive feedback coming from their customer bases and with phase two just around the corner, additional functionality is being discussed which will enhance their customer’s experience further.Back to Work
