Fauna and Flora International

Back To Case Studies

Fauna & Flora International (FFI) is the world’s longest established international conservation body. Founded in 1903, it was the world’s first international conservation organisation and the pioneering work of its founders in Africa led to the creation of numerous protected areas, including the Kruger and Serengeti National Parks.

Black Pig has been appointed to work on several projects for Fauna & Flora International, the most recent of which was a custom designed set of website templates to enable the client to insert and upload its own content to its web server. Web templates are an effective way of developing new websites as they allow users to edit the content and images at their leisure, which is of great benefit to FFI as they can utilise their expansive image library. However the use of web templates does require a basic understanding of HTML coding. The site is also designed to be W3C AAA compliant, which is the highest level of accessibility and usability available.

Black Pig has also previously worked alongside ResourceAfrica, a South Africa-based development organisation, with FFI to develop the 'ICT Conservation Resource' a valuable source for training support, providing information on grants as well as access to case studies, technologies and suppliers.

Designed for conservation field workers, students, government bodies and corporate technicians around the world, the CD-Rom focuses on available ICT tools and policy, and enables users to identify the most appropriate resources and technologies to make their projects more effective.
